Bliss Bars

Raw Bliss BarsYep, they look like something you’d feed to the birds! However these delightful chunks of super food come in really handy when you’re on the go or just looking for a quick, sweet snack with your cuppa. They provide you with all your essential elements – protein, carbs and good fat.

1 cup mixed dates and raisins (or try dates and dried unsulphured apricots)
1 cup mixed nuts
1/4 cup hulled hemp or sunflower seeds
Dessert spoon of coconut oil (melted)

Blend the dried fruit in a processor into a paste.

Add the rest of the ingredients and blitz up for an additional minute.

Place mixture in the fridge for 10 minutes to set slightly.

Create balls, bars or shapes with the mixture and store in fridge.

Coconut oil melts really quickly so try not to handle the mixture too much when moulding into shapes.

Above is the basic recipe – you can add spices, cacao nibs, chia seeds, bee pollen, spirulina… Pretty much anything else to enhance the nutritional benefits.
