Clean Green Protein Smoothie

Raw Protein Smoothie

Pow! Are you looking for a natural way to up your protein intake? How about being in control of what goes in to your body and not relying so much on manufactured protein powders?

Well – this one really kicks a punch. I was asked by a Thai boxing champ to design a protein shake which only contained natural ingredients. It’s designed to give you a boost of protein along with essential fatty acids, numerous vitamins and minerals. I like a thick smoothie which I can savour and eat with a spoon so I don’t add too much water. You make the rules; so for a more milky consistency, add more water.

It tastes so delicious – I topped mine with bee pollen and pomegranate seeds. How about adding berries, seeds or nuts? Yes please! Add anything which floats your health food boat.

2 tablespoons hulled (de-shelled) hemp seeds (protein/amino acids)

1 tablespoon milled flax seeds (Omega 3 and 6)

1/2 tablespoon of chlorella or spirulina (high in antioxidants and protein)

1 tablespoon lecithin (helps with breakdown of fat and also good for brain)

Large handful spinach (green = good protein and vits)

1 ripe banana (potassium/magnesium – good for water balance and electrolytes)

1 medjool date (optional for added sweetness)

250 ml filtered water (you may need more if you like a thinner consistency).

Ice (if desired)

Blend together until smooth and creamy.

This shake gives you a whopping 16.5g of protein. I did the math via Nutrition Data.
